  1. I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
  2. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
  3. When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence.
  4. For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.
  5. Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
  6. O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.
  7. But the Lord shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.
  8. And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
  9. The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
  10. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
  11. Sing praises to the Lord, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.
  12. When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.
  13. Have mercy upon me, O Lord; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:
  14. That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation.
  15. The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.
  16. The Lord is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.
  17. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
  18. For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.
  19. Arise, O Lord; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.
  20. Put them in fear, O Lord: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

Psalm 9 – Prayer

Heavenly Father,

I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will declare all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.

When my enemies turn back, they shall fall and perish at Your presence. For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sit on the throne judging in righteousness. You have rebuked the nations, destroyed the wicked, and blotted out their name forever and ever. O enemy, destructions are finished forever, and You have destroyed cities; their memory has perished with them.

But You, Lord, shall endure forever; You have prepared Your throne for judgment. You shall judge the world in righteousness and govern the people with justice. You, Lord, will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

I will sing praises to You, Lord, who dwells in Zion; I will declare among the people Your deeds. When You make inquiry for blood, You remember them; You do not forget the cry of the humble.

Have mercy upon me, O Lord; consider my trouble from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death, that I may show forth all Your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in Your salvation.

The nations have sunk down in the pit they made; in the net they hid, their own foot is caught. The Lord is known by the judgment He executes; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten; the expectation of the poor shall not perish forever. Arise, O Lord, let not man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your sight. Put them in fear, O Lord, that the nations may know themselves to be but men.

In Jesus’ name, I pray.

Amen.

Psalm 9 – Poem

I will praise You, Lord, with all my heart,

Of Your wondrous deeds, I’ll sing my part.

I’ll rejoice and be glad in You,

And tell of the marvels You pursue.

My enemies retreat, they fall and die,

At Your presence, Lord, they cannot deny.

For You upheld my right and cause,

Sitting enthroned, judging without pause.

You rebuked the nations, destroyed the wicked,

Their names erased, their plans afflicted.

Endless ruin has overtaken them,

Forgotten in the depths, their condemned hem.

But the Lord reigns forever, a just throne He has,

He rules the world with righteousness, in truth’s grasp.

He judges the people with equity and grace,

In His justice, all find their place.

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,

A stronghold in times of distress.

Those who know Your name trust in You,

For You, O Lord, never forsake those true.

Sing praises to the Lord, enthroned on high,

Proclaim among the nations His deeds that fly.

For He avenges blood and remembers cries,

Not ignoring the afflicted, He hears their sighs.

Be gracious to me, O Lord, see my affliction,

Lift me from the gates of death’s constriction.

That I may declare Your praises once more,

And rejoice in Your salvation, my core.

The nations have fallen into their own pit,

Their feet caught in the net they knit.

The Lord is known by His acts of justice,

The wicked ensnared by their own practice.

The wicked return to the realm of the dead,

All the nations that forget God’s stead.

But the needy will not always be forgotten,

Nor the hope of the afflicted turned rotten.

Arise, O Lord, let not mortals prevail,

Let the nations be judged and their power pale.

Strike them with terror, O Lord, make them see,

They are but mortal, bowing to Thee.

Amen.
