- O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
- Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
- My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?
- Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.
- For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?
- I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
- Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
- Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.
- The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.
- Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
Psalm 6 – Prayer
O Lord,
Rebuke me not in Your anger, neither chasten me in Your hot displeasure. Have mercy upon me, O Lord, for I am weak. Heal me, O Lord, for my bones are vexed and my soul is also sore vexed. But You, O Lord, how long will it be before You return to deliver my soul? Save me for Your mercies’ sake.
In death, there is no remembrance of You; in the grave, who shall give You thanks? I am weary with my groaning, and all night I make my bed to swim with my tears. My eyes are consumed with grief and grow old because of all my enemies.
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. The Lord has heard my supplication, and the Lord will receive my prayer. Let all my enemies be ashamed and sore vexed; let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
I trust in Your unfailing love and mercy. Strengthen me, O Lord, and deliver me from all my troubles. In Your name, I find refuge and peace.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
Psalm 6 – Poem
O Lord, in mercy, hear my plea,
With tender heart, remember me.
In times of sorrow, pain, and strife,
Extend Your hand, restore my life.
Do not rebuke in anger’s flame,
Nor chasten me with guilt or shame.
For weary bones and troubled soul,
Seek healing touch to make me whole.
How long, O Lord, must I endure?
With grace and love, my heart secure.
In nights of tears, I cry and weep,
In shadows deep, my vigils keep.
Return, O Lord, and set me free,
From depths of anguish, rescue me.
For in the grave, no praise ascends,
In silence dark, the songless ends.
With every night, my bed is wet,
With tears of grief, my pillow set.
My eyes grow weak with sorrow’s weight,
My foes surround, their hearts with hate.
Depart from me, all deeds of sin,
For God has heard, and drawn me in.
The Lord accepts my fervent prayer,
In His embrace, I cast my care.
Ashamed, my enemies retreat,
Their plans undone, in swift defeat.
For God has turned His face to mine,
In His great love, I rest, divine.
Amen.
