- Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
- Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
- But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
- I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
- I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.
- I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
- Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
- Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
Psalm 3 – Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I come before You in times of trouble, feeling overwhelmed by those who rise up against me. Many are they who trouble me and say of my soul that there is no help for me in God. But Lord, You are my shield, my glory, and the lifter up of my head.
I cry out to You with my voice, and You hear me from Your holy hill. I find peace in knowing that when I lay down to sleep, I awake because You sustain me. You are my protector and provider.
I will not be afraid, even if ten thousands of people set themselves against me round about. I trust in Your power and Your salvation. Arise, O Lord, and save me, O my God. You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone and broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Salvation belongs to You, O Lord. Your blessing is upon Your people. I rest in the assurance of Your protection and deliverance.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
Psalm 3 – Poem
A Shield About Me
O Lord, how many rise against me, Enemies abound, their threats unceasingly. They say of my soul, “There’s no help in God,” But You, O Lord, with me, Your staff and rod.
You are my shield, my glory, my light, The lifter of my head in the darkest night. I cry out to You, and from Your holy hill, You answer me, Your presence still.
I lie down and sleep, and wake again, For You, O Lord, sustain me, amen. I will not fear the tens of thousands near, Who set themselves against me, spreading fear.
Arise, O Lord, save me, O my God, For You strike my enemies, breaking their facade. You shatter the teeth of the wicked’s pride, In Your salvation, I will abide.
Salvation belongs to You, O Lord, most high, Your blessing is upon Your people, nigh. In peace, I rest, for You are close, My shield, my glory, in whom I boast.
