Psalm 14

1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? Who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord.
5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.
6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor because the Lord is his refuge.
7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the Lord bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Psalm 14 – Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with humble hearts, acknowledging Your greatness and Your truth. Lord, we recognize that many in this world turn away from You, denying Your presence and Your power. But we come to You in faith, declaring that You are the true and living God, our Creator and Sustainer.

Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have strayed from Your path, for our sins, and for our shortcomings. Help us to live righteously and to seek Your wisdom in all things. Strengthen us, that we may not fall into the ways of the foolish or be swayed by the corrupt influences around us. Keep us from sin, and help us to do good, according to Your will.

Lord, we pray for those who are lost, who do not know You, and who seek fulfillment in worldly things. May they come to recognize Your love and mercy, and turn their hearts back to You. Bring to them a longing for Your presence and a desire to know the truth that only You can provide.

We thank You, Lord, for being the refuge of the poor and the defender of the oppressed. You are our rock and our salvation. We lift up those who suffer, asking that You comfort them and show them Your love in their time of need.

We also pray for the restoration of Your people, that we may live in unity and rejoice in Your salvation. Bring hope to the hearts of the weary and joy to the souls of the faithful. May our lives be a testament to Your goodness and Your faithfulness. In Your holy name, we pray,
Amen.

Psalm 14 – Poem

The Fool’s Heart
Inspired by Psalm 14

The fool has spoken deep within,
“There is no God;” they dwell in sin.
Corrupted paths their steps have trod,
Forsaking good, denying God.

The Lord from heaven looks below,
To find a heart with truth to know.
Yet all have turned and lost their way,
No soul does good, not one today.

Do they not see, these hearts so cold,
Who feast on lives as bread grown old?
They do not seek, they do not call,
And in their pride, they surely fall.

But fear shall grip their hardened hearts,
For God defends the faithful’s parts.
A refuge sure for souls oppressed,
In Him the poor find peace and rest.

O, bring salvation’s light to shine!
Restore the hope of Jacob’s line.
Then Israel’s joy shall rise and sing,
As Zion’s hills with gladness ring.
