Psalm 13 – KJV

1. How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

2. How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?

3. Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

4. Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

5. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6. I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 13 – Prayer

Heavenly Father,

In the moments when I feel forgotten and alone, I come before You, echoing the words of David: “How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?” My heart is heavy, burdened with sorrow and the weight of unanswered questions. I wrestle with my thoughts, and each day feels like a struggle.

Lord, I ask for Your presence to be known in my life. Turn Your face towards me and hear my cry. Illuminate my eyes with Your light and grant me the strength to endure. I fear the triumph of my enemies and the gloating of those who oppose me. Do not let them prevail, Lord.

Despite the darkness that surrounds me, I choose to trust in Your unfailing love. My heart will find joy in Your salvation. I will sing praises to You, for You have been good to me. Your mercy is my refuge, and in Your salvation, I find hope.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer. I place my trust in You, knowing that You are always with me, even when I cannot feel Your presence. Strengthen my faith and fill my heart with the peace that comes from knowing You are in control.

In Jesus’ name, I pray.

Amen.

Psalm 13 – Poem

How long, O Lord, will shadows veil Your face?

In silence deep, I wander through the night,

A heart encased in sorrow’s cold embrace,

Seeking Your warmth, Your ever-radiant light.

How long shall doubts and fears assail my mind,

With whispers dark, in every waking hour?

My soul, in chains of grief, remains confined,

And enemies exalt in their cruel power.

Look on me, Lord, with mercy’s tender gaze,

Enlighten me, lest death’s dark sleep ensue.

Rescue me from this labyrinthine maze,

And grant me strength to rise and walk anew.

Yet still, amidst the storm, my faith stands sure,

In Your unfailing love, my hope shall stay.

My heart will sing, Your mercies will endure,

For You have blessed me, Lord, in every way.

In trust, I lift my voice, a song of praise,

For though the night is long, the dawn will break.

Your goodness, Lord, will guide me all my days,

In Your embrace, my weary soul awake.
