- In the Lord put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
- For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
- If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
- The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
- The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
- Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
- For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
Psalm 11 – Prayer
Heavenly Father,
In You, O Lord, I put my trust. When fear and doubt whisper to my soul, telling me to flee like a bird to the mountain, remind me of Your steadfast presence. For though the wicked bend their bow and make ready their arrow to shoot secretly at the upright in heart, I will not be moved.
When the foundations are destroyed and it seems like there is nothing the righteous can do, I remember that You, Lord, are in Your holy temple. Your throne is in heaven, and Your eyes behold and examine the children of men. You test the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence Your soul hates.
Upon the wicked, You shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest. This shall be their portion. But You, O Lord, love righteousness, and Your countenance beholds the upright.
Strengthen me to trust in Your righteousness and justice, even when the world seems chaotic and uncertain. Help me to stand firm in faith, knowing that You see and know all things. Let Your presence be my refuge and strength.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
Psalm 11 – Poem
In the Lord I take refuge, my soul finds peace,
Why say to me, “Flee like a bird,” to cease?
For see, the wicked bend their bow,
They set their arrows on the string to sow,
In the shadows, they aim at the upright heart,
To tear apart, to make them depart.
When the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?
In the Lord, we find strength anew.
The Lord is in His holy temple, high above,
The Lord’s throne in heaven, filled with love.
His eyes see, His eyelids test,
The children of men, He knows best.
The Lord tests the righteous, loves their ways,
But the wicked and violent, His soul repays.
On the wicked, He rains fiery coals,
Burning sulfur, scorching their souls.
For the Lord is righteous, He loves justice and right,
The upright will see His face, in His light.
In His presence, we find our grace,
In His steadfast love, we take our place.
Amen.
