Psalms for Anxiety: When the Mind Will Not Rest
Anxiety is common, and the Psalms know it. Here are psalms and practices for the anxious mind.

Anxiety is one of the most common struggles of our age, and the Psalms speak to it with rare honesty. They do not shame the anxious; they give them language and a God to run to.
Psalm 94 acknowledges anxious thoughts: "In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul." The answer to swirling thoughts is not fewer thoughts but greater comforts—the comforts of God.
Psalm 46 commands stillness: "Be still, and know that I am God." Stillness is an act of trust, a refusal to solve what only God can solve. Psalm 131 models a humbled, quieted soul. Psalm 27 waits on the Lord and lets Him strengthen the heart.
Praying the Psalms through anxiety is not a quick fix, but it is a steady path. Over time, the anxieties are not eliminated; they are carried by a God whose shoulders are broader than ours.
